 MISSION ORGANIZATION

Glocal Mission is a Christian, non-profit organization based in Houston, TX founded by Rev. Dr. David Kim with a few like-minded missionary pastors and congregations since October of 2016.  Glocal Mission equips and mobilizes people to become everyday disciple-making missionaries by vocation in their own backyard and beyond (glocally) to make an eternal difference in their community, for their community, and with their community. We’re a multi-ethnic network of congregations who are intentionally committed to seeking the lost, discipling the found, and multiplying disciple-makers and churches with the caring love of Christ cross-culturally, cross-linguistically, cross-regionally, cross-generationally, and cross-nationally to God's glory and for the common good!

The term GLOCAL /ˈɡlōk(ə)l/ is not a typo but a fusion of the words "global" and "local". The term glocal reflects and is characterized by both local and global considerations. It’s not a global or local mission. It’s not an overseas or domestic mission. It’s both a global and a local mission. We must be glocal Christians with a glocal vision because our God is glocal God for a glocal mission field. We believe that everyone is either a mission field (if the person is without Christ) or missionary by vocation (if the person is with Christ) - Rev. Dr. David Kim.

Our God is by His Excellency a Glocal Missionary God. His desire is to see the Gospel proclaimed to all nations, disciples made, and churches planted in Houston and beyond for His glory and for the common good of the people.

Motivated by God’s love, we envision reaching three billion people with the gospel of Jesus.  We envision equipping and mobilizing one million harvest workers such as evangelists, pastors and teachers, missionaries, disciple makers, ministry leaders, and church planters among 127 nations.  And we envision planting 7,000 churches.  We envision all of this to be done by the year 2050. (cf. Lk. 10:2; Rev. 5:9; 7:9; 10:11; Esther 3:9; 8:9).

To enable this God-sized vision and mega goal to become a reality with God's help, we want to introduce our Gideon Project.

Gideon Project

Be one of 300... to support what God is doing to reach one more soul, one more disciple maker, one more church, and one more nation for the sake of the Gospel!

In the Old Testament book of Judges (7:1-7), God called Gideon to overcome Israel’s oppressors, the Midianites.  Gideon’s clan was the weakest, and he was the least in his father’s house, yet God promised to be with him.  The Spirit of the LORD clothed Gideon, and Gideon sounded the trumpet, and called people to follow him into battle (Judges 6:34).  Against a mighty army of 120,000 enemies, Gideon was able to muster 32,000.  Yet God told him that he had too many, lest Israel think that it was by their own strength, not the strength of the LORD, that the battle would be won.  So, Gideon followed God’s lead and whittled their troops down to 300 men.  With only 300, God defeated the Midianites mightily.

Today God is calling us to fight as One man for the sake of the Gospel!  Currently there are roughly 5.4 billion people whose minds are blinded by the spiritual forces of evil so that they do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior!  5.4 billion people will not enter heaven and will remain under the oppression and dominion of our enemy unless they are reached and told about the Way, the Truth, and the Life: Jesus Christ!

Today God is raising up an army of everyday evangelists, disciple-making missionaries pastors, and church planters through Glocal Mission to break the bonds of oppression and set people free with the hope of the Gospel.  These frontline harvest workers need your support.  We are blowing the trumpet to call to arms those whom God is calling.  300 men and women are needed who will stand with Glocal Mission with regular financial support to strengthen Christ’s work of seeking the lost, discipling the found, and multiplying disciple makers and churches by the year 2027 (7,000 supporters by year 2050!). 300 who pledge to give $100/month to Glocal Mission to support those who are on the front lines.

Why so few?  Because we believe that God can overcome the odds with a few who are faithful so that HE will be glorified, and we will know that victory is the Lord’s and not by our own strength.

Why do this now?  Because to our Glocal Missionary God, one more matters!  One more soul, one more disciple-maker, one more church, one more nation—our Glocal Missionary God wants to reach them because he loves them.  He says through the voice of Ezekiel: “Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?” (Ezekiel 18:23)

And again, He says, “I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy.  I will feed them in justice.” (Ezekiel 34:16)   So says the Lord.

Will you answer the call to stand as One with God's faithful 300? Will you be faithful to give of your treasure to see the enemies' darkness overcome with the light of Christ, so that one more will be saved and not perish, but will enter with Christ in His glorious kingdom to come?

If so, please prayerfully consider being One with the 300 in the Gideon Project for Glocal Mission.  Your resources will help support missionaries on the ground in mighty ways.

If you are not able to make this financial commitment, then consider being one of 7,000 prayer warriors who regularly lift up those who are on the front lines with your prayer support.  With God’s help and with your prayerful and financial support we will become a healthy and thriving self-sustaining mission organization.

“The mission is done with the feet of those who go, the knees of those who pray, the hands of those who give, the heart of those who serve behind of the scenes.” – Glocal Mission.

Core Values:

  • There Exists Only Two Kinds of People - Those who are a Mission Field or a Missionary (Ekklesia="sent ones" who have a missional vocation and purpose). Those who are perishing or those who are being saved. Lost or Saved. (1 Cor. 1:18; 1 P. 2:7; 2 Cor. 4:3-4; 2:12; 3:14) "Every heart without Christ is a mission field and every heart with Christ is a missionary by vocation." -Rev. Dr. David Kim

  • Eternity Matters: Lost people matter to God and matter to us. (Ezek. 34:16, Matt. 28:18-20; 24:14; Luke 15:40, Luke 19:10, Acts 1:8)

  • Multiplication –We believe in healthy disciples and churches that multiply (Deut. 1:11; Gen. 13:16; Gen. 22:17; Acts 6:7)

  • Holistic Ministry & Discipleship– We believe in ministry, outreach, and discipleship to the whole person and for the common good of the whole community. (Deut. 14:29; Lev. 25:39-50; Ex21:1-6; Matt. 9:35-38; Matt. 25:40- 45)

  • Missional Stewardship – Our Talent, Time, and Treasure are God’s, therefore, they are to be managed wisely and invested generously for the sake of the Gospel and for the common good. (2 S. 24:24; 1 Chron. 29:1-19; Mal. 3:6-10; Matt. 6:19-21; Matt. 14:13-21; Lk. 12:13-21, 48; Lk. 16:1-13; 1 Cor. 4:1-2; Gal. 5:22-23; Eph. 3:1-21)

  • Servant Leadership - Leading by serving, serving by leading. (Jn. 13:1-7; Matt. 20:25-28; Mark 8:33-38; Phil. 1:2, 25-30)

  • Relationships – We believe ministry is most fruitful when done through grace-centered relationships. (Col. 3:18-4:6; Rom. 12:9-21)

  • Accountability – We are accountable to God and to His people, for the gifts He’s given us and the ministry He’s called us to do. (Luke 10:17-20; 2 Kg. 5:15-17; Amos. 3;1-2; Acts 14:26-2; 2 Cor. 8:21)

  • Living Coram Deo – Living our entire life before God, under the authority of God, to the pleasure and glory of God alone. Therefore, whatever we are doing, wherever we are doing it, and however we do it, we are acting under the gaze of God. (Ps. 51:9-12; Dt. 31:16-18; Ps. 27:9-10; Lk. 22:61-62; 2 Cor. 4:14)

  • Prayer – When we kneel down God is at work. However, prayer does not eliminate our need to plan and act. (Neh. 2:4; 2 Kgs. Ex. 32:9-14; Ex. 14:15; Gn. 18: 20-33; Phil. 4:6- 7; 1 Chron. 4:9-10; 2 Chron. 20:1ff; 1 John 5:14-15, 1 Tim. 2:2; Col. 1:9-14; Acts 4:24- 30; John 17:1ff; Lk. 10:2; 18:1; Mk. 9:29; Ps. 122:6-9)

  • 4 Self Church Planting Principles - Churches that are self-sustaining, self-governing, self-propagating and self-theologizing (theology in lower case differing from Theology in capital letter. ex: Doctrine of Trinity falls into the category of Theology while the time of day for worship falls into category theology). (Acts 14:21; 16:5; 8:4, 15:21; 19:9-10)

  • Ethnic Diversity – We believe that God loves all people and commands us to reach all people regardless of race, color, and language. We understand the linguistic and cultural differences and diverse spiritual giftedness but these must not be the barriers but blessings and edification of people for the sake of the gospel and for the common good. (1 Cor. 12; Rom. 12; Eph. 4:11-16; Rev. 7:9; Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)

  • Indigenous Ministry – We are committed to working through local harvest workers and leaders that God has placed in their community for their community and with their community. Local leaders are those that best understand the means, manner, and methods that communicate truth within the context of their culture without compromising the Gospel. (1 Cor. 9:19-23; John. 20:21,22; 1 Ts. 1:5-8; 2 Tim. 2:1-3)

  • Team Ministry – The Great Commission is too big for anyone to accomplish alone and too important not to try to do it together. (taken from Missio Nexus) (Rom. 12:3-8; Eccl. 4:12; 1 Cor. 12:12-31; 1 Cor. 10:24; Mark 2:14-17; Eph. 4:1-8)
